The role is to facilitate the successful implementation of the Flood Management and Network Modelling and Monitoring project. The aim of the project is to enable real-time response evaluation, flood risk evaluation, problem detection, performance monitoring, and replay and reporting.

The Hydraulic Modeler with proven Project Management experience will lead the Foul Water (FW) and Surface Ground Water (SGW) hydraulic modelling tender going out to the market and subsequently support with the evaluation, mobilization, implementation and stakeholder management across our client’s FW / SGW / Centralized Control (CC) and Asset Management (AM) teams.

The role reports to our Programme Manager.

Key Tasks & Duties

a) Lead the evaluation of proposals and recommend a preferred contractor

b) Manage the mobilization of the successful contractor

c) Support the implementation of the project to deliver business benefits, through the development and tracking and to ensure contract deliverables are appropriate to meet all stated requirements

d) Act as technical expert throughout the development and implementation of the FS and SGW models and their embedment in our clients’ organisation

e) Review the developed hydraulic models being created and handed over to our client

f) Establish a monitoring mechanism for regular reporting

g) Facilitate team meetings, maintain action logs and report progress

h) Support in providing reports based on requests

i) Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and regulations

Title:

Qualifications:

a) First Degree or higher level qualification in engineering (e.g. BSc, BEng, MSc Civil)

b) Preferred Chartered Status

c) PMP Certified

Preferred Specifications:

Experience:

a) Minimum of 10 years, relevant and practical experience within major water / wastewater utility organization(s) including project management experience in the utilization of sewerage and drainage hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM / ICMLive.

b) Minimum of 5 years’, similar and relevant technical expertise in the utilization of wastewater network models in a utility organization(s)

c) Strong knowledge of the ESRI range of products

d) Experience of modelling complex wastewater hydraulic models for large cities delivering tangible and demonstrable operational benefits

e) Experienced in leading / advising teams encompassing Foul and Surface Water Networks modeling

Technical Competencies:

a) Qualified Project Management professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activities, disciplines or teams of moderate size and complexity

b) Provides specialist services in support of project requirements

c) Ability to calibrate models against available flow and pressure data

d) Significant experience in delivering integrated hydraulic modelling projects, InfoWorks ICM / ICMLive, using flood modelling software packages, model build, verification and solution development, and reviewing and checking work developed by others.

Skills:

a) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

b) Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, from executives to operators and contractors

Technical Competencies:

a) Qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialised activities, disciplines or teams of moderate size and complexity

d) Understanding of different types of contracts including performance based incentivized framework agreements

e) Able to independently perform highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialized principles
