Back End Engineer

As a Back End Engineer you need to work collaboratively with agile teams to deliver great outcomes. Your mission is to drive the Bank towards achieving its stated ambition to become the most experience focused bank in the region.  We’re not happy with just being up there – we want to be world class and recognized for it.  To achieve this, you will need to:

• Work with your team to do what’s needed to deliver the product.
• Develop “T-shaped” skills, working with your team to do what’s needed to deliver product. We don’t want rigid organization structures and you’ll be working closely with product, designers and other experts in their fields.

Accountabilities

• Build digital banking services and applications by building high quality and highly reliable software to meet the needs of the product owners
• Write clean, elegant, and reusable code that solves complex problems
• Participate in design & code review processes
• Work closely with engineers, DevOps, QA, and Project Managers

• Being a ‘banker’ will be an advantage but is by no means critical.
• Exceptional application engineering skills, high energy and motivational drive will be wording that others will have used to describe you.
• You have been building services and applications at a senior level on the JVM for 5+ years – likely as a Java developer, and ideally exploring Kotlin more recently.
• You’re familiar with micro service architectures, and you’ve built and deployed containerized services to Cloud-based orchestration layers and platforms.
• You’re familiar with the Spring framework.
• You’re familiar with TDD, you know what a good unit test looks like, and you can write tests across the test pyramid
• You’ve used GraphQL to implement well-designed APIs, and you also know what a good RESTful API looks like CI/CD
• Applying cyber security best practices
• Excellent communication skills
• Whilst speaking Arabic will take you places here, fluency in English is a must.
