Senior Piping Designer

Wood is currently looking for a Senior Piping Designer to work on the engineering and project management services for our ongoing Program in Saudi Arabia

• Report to the Piping Lead Engineer, the main functions of the role will be to execute designing and drafting activities
• Develop Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts and 2D Piping General Arrangement Drawings for FEED studies
• Produce Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts, 2D Piping General Arrangement Drawings, Isometrics and Pipe Support Drawings for detail design projects
• Compile Material Take-offs
• Prepare Isometric sketches for all Stress critical lines with the possible support locations and incorporate stress analysis comments into the design
• Check drawings produced by other Piping Designers
• Develop 3D model based on study layouts
• Assist, Remodel and Update the model based on the Internal, Client reviews, latest Supplier information and Isometric checking comments and maintain the clash free model
• Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
• Participate in and advice on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training, inductions and documentation review
• Verify that all designs are to required standards and that the objectives of the project are met
• Verify that the works is completed to the agreed schedule

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years’ experience in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Power Plants
• Thorough knowledge of Equipment Layout Development, Piping layout design for all types of equipment such as Vessels, Exchangers, Tanks, Pumps and Compressors
• Knowledge of onshore Gas Gathering Systems i.e. wellheads, flowlines, manifolds, gas compression facilities would be advantageous
• Able to work on both FEED and detail design projects
• Experience with Microstation is preferred
• Familiar and hands on experience with 3D design and drafting tools like PDS, PDMS and SP3D
• Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
• Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills
• Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for Safety, Health Environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) performance
• Participate in and advise on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training, induction and documentation review
• Verify that all designs are to the required standard and that the objectives of the Project are met

• Undertake site surveys as required
